Juniper may not have the swagger of networking market leader Cisco. But you can’t fault the company for a lack of ambition.
At a launch event held at the New York Stock Exchange Thursday, the second-place networking firm unveiled a sweeping upgrade to its hardware and software platforms, along with a new logo and a flashy new marketing campaign. In a lengthy introduction that included video snippets from networking pioneers Bob Metcalfe and Vint Cerf, Chief Executive Kevin Johnson compared the launch, which coincided with the 40th birthday of the Internet, to events like the fall of the Berlin Wall and the moon landing.
