- Stones used for stone masonry should be of good quality which means hard durable,tough,water absorption<0.6% and it should be of uniform color.
- Height of stone should not be greater than its minimum lateral dimension.
- Stones should be properly cured before using for construction.
- There should be enough through stone to provide better bond.
- For better strength of construction avoid continuous vertical joints.
